01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
Red Dot Training operates out of Canton, Massachusetts with a straightforward mission: equip gun owners with the knowledge and skills to handle firearms safely and responsibly. Co-founders Matt Sherman and Stephen Powers bring serious credentials to the table—not just firearms experience, but also emergency medical training that shows up in their instruction.
Matt Sherman spent nearly a decade in firearm manipulation and practical shooting. His background includes work as an armored courier in Boston, service at the Federal Reserve, and private security contracting. He's completed advanced courses in concealed carry from unconventional positions, reflective shooting, movement drills, and confined-space tactics. He also instructs carbine-focused classes to build foundational and advanced rifle skills. Matt holds certifications in First Aid, CPR, and BLS instruction, plus multiple gunshot wound and trauma management courses based on the MARCH protocol.
Stephen Powers brings over 10 years of firearms instruction experience as a Certified Firearms Instructor. He works full-time as a firefighter and paramedic, which directly informs his teaching on emergency medicine and life-saving skills. He's completed courses in force-on-force training, pistol and rifle shooting, concealed carry, and extensive medical training.
Red Dot Training stocks a curated selection of gear including cleaning supplies, AR-15 and pistol components, tactical holsters and belts, weapon-mounted flashlights, red dot sights and optics (Trijicon, Holosun, Steiner), and medical kits. Brands in inventory include Surefire, Streamlight, Geissele, BCM, B5 Systems, and others.
"Taking the Ladies-Only Firearms Class with Matt and Steve was an empowering experience. They created a welcoming and supportive environment, making sure every woman felt confident handling her firearm." — Cassandra M
The combination of firearms expertise and medical training is uncommon. Many instructors teach shooting; fewer teach you what to do if something goes wrong. Both founders hold BLS certifications and trauma management training, so medical preparedness isn't an afterthought—it's built into their philosophy.
