Boston Gun and Rifle operates the only lead-free shooting range in Boston serving both civilians and law enforcement. Since 2019, the club switched to lead-free ammunition exclusively to protect staff, members, and guests from lead exposure. This means all ammo—whether you bring it or buy it—must be lead-free.

  • Public Range Sessions - No gun license required, no experience necessary. Book a session for $120 per person (minimum 2 people). An instructor guides you through shooting semi-auto pistols, revolvers, and rifles. You get up to 1 hour 15 minutes, ammo, protective gear, and access to 6 different firearms. Groups of 5+ need a $240 non-refundable deposit. Text 617-922-9855 to reserve.

  • MA Gun License Classes (LTC/FID) - Classes run Fridays and Saturdays, with Spanish sessions on some Sundays. This is your pathway to getting a Massachusetts Firearms License (LTC) or Firearms ID (FID). Instructors include Jesús (bilingual Spanish), Jay Lui (Mandarin), and certified staff trained by MA State Police.
  • Try Before You Buy Program - Have an LTC? Test 15+ firearms before spending money at a gun shop. The club stocks:

  • Marksmanship Training - Private 1-hour sessions with instructors for $120. Includes 50 rounds of 9mm. Work on accuracy, gun handling, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Advanced Training - Urban Firearm Society LLC hosts:
  • Concealed Carry & Defensive Handgun Skills (4.5 hours, ~$150 + ammo)
  • STOP THE BLEED® trauma response training (1.5 hours, $50)

Members must have an active MA LTC and their own firearm. First-year membership is $250; renewal is $150/year. Benefits include:

  • Unlimited range access during business hours (no appointments, no time limits)

  • Firearms transfer services ($40 per transfer)
  • Locker rental ($50 small, $80 large annually)
  • Free eye/ear protection borrowing
  • Access to firearm cleaning equipment
  • $50 discount on first-year membership if you took an LTC class with them

  • Ammo: Members MUST buy ammo from the club. Outside ammunition is a zero-tolerance violation that can result in suspension or revocation.
  • Calibers Allowed: .380 ACP, 9mm, .38 Special, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP only. No rifle calibers (unless it's a pistol-caliber rifle like the AR-9s they stock).

Safety Basics: - Eye and ear protection mandatory at all times - Firearms in cases or holsters only when entering the club - Loading/unloading only in shooting booths - Never more than one gun out per booth - Muzzle pointed downrange always - Fingers off trigger until on target - Cease-fire commands stop all shooting immediately

  • Guest Policy: LTC holders bring guests for $25. Non-LTC guests need an instructor ($120 fee). Members can draw from holsters if they lift the booth table and step to center.

The team includes law enforcement with 25+ years experience, Vietnam veterans, instructors certified by Sig Sauer Academy, NRA, USCCA, and MA State Police. Bilingual and multilingual instructors available (Spanish, Mandarin). They specialize in making firearms accessible to minorities and people new to shooting.
