Iosco Sportsmen's Club - Wurtsmith Range

Iosco Sportsmen's Club operates two shooting facilities across northern Michigan—the Wurtsmith Range in Oscoda and the East Tawas Range—serving the local shooting community for over 75 years.

The Tawas and Oscoda ranges feature 25, 50, and 100 yard distances with covered shooting positions and benches. Wurtsmith expands this with:

• •25, 50, and 100 yard covered ranges
• •300 yard rifle range (members and guests with member present)
• •600 yard range (scheduled practice and matches only)

All ranges open to both members and non-members for scheduled shooting events.

Both locations offer informal pistol shooting at various distances with covered positions. Wednesday evenings at Wurtsmith host IDPA-style defensive practice. Summer months feature NRA Bullseye pistol matches at Tawas, and Steel Plate Shoots run the second Saturday of each month.

CPL (Concealed Pistol License) Classes are available year-round through Bob Mills (989-724-8307). 2025 schedule: - January 4 - March 1 - May 10 - July 12 - September 13 - October 25

All shotgun activities at Wurtsmith feature trap, skeet, and 5-Stand. A rotating summer league accommodates both members and non-members:

• •5-Stand: Saturdays, 9am–3pm
• •Skeet: Thursday evenings (summer)
• •Trap: Sundays starting at noon

The archery range at Wurtsmith includes a raised 3D target platform and flat-line shooting into bales.

Board meetings held first Wednesday of each month at 7pm. General membership meetings in March, June, September, and December.
