Cedar Mills Gun Club was founded in 1938 and remains one of McLeod County's most active shooting organizations. What started as a handful of hunters has grown into a 500+ member club with three dedicated ranges, regular competitions, and a strong commitment to firearm safety education.
The club operates separate facilities for different shooting disciplines:
All ranges are members-only and open 8 AM to sunset. The grounds are maintained by members and monitored through a gate access system.
The club also hosts seasonal fundraising events including the annual Fish Fry (since 1966) and Chicken & Rib Night, held in a 200-person capacity shelter facility built in 2012.
Cedar Mills has partnered with the Minnesota DNR for over 40 years, hosting youth safety courses twice yearly taught by certified instructors.

Alvin Schroeder has been volunteering to teach youth safety at this club for nearly 40 years. The program has a documented track record of reducing hunting accidents and keeping traditions alive.
