Full description and what we offer
Turcotte Shooting Range is a public shooting facility operated by the Mississippi Department of Fisheries and Parks, located in central Mississippi near Ross Barnett Reservoir. This well-maintained range offers a comprehensive selection of shooting sports in a natural, wooded setting just off the scenic Natchez Trace.
Turcotte provides multiple disciplines for shooters of all skill levels:
The range is situated on the north side of Ross Barnett Reservoir in a scenic area accessible via Highway 43 South in Canton. The facility features ample parking and a well-organized layout with an on-site range office.
All shooters pay a $15 entry fee regardless of activity. Clay targets are charged separately at approximately 30 cents per target. The range operates with seasonal hours that vary by day of the week, so advance planning is recommended. Check-in is computerized at the range office, with payment calculated based on actual clay usage.
Golf carts are available on a first-come, first-served basis to assist with the sporting clay course navigation, though the walking path is well-maintained and pleasant. The range master provides helpful instruction and continuously monitors the facility for safety compliance.
The facility is professionally managed with courteous, knowledgeable staff who assist shooters with equipment operation and answer questions. Safety rules are enforced consistently, and all shooters must acknowledge range rules upon arrival.
