When Amy started coaching archery at Siegrist Elementary in 2022, she and husband Matt quickly realized beginning competitors needed more range time than families could manage driving to Independence. Parents asked where kids could get private lessons. That dilemma—combined with Matt being a visionary—led them to open 10X Archery Range.
Finding an affordable space was tough until Adam Grell purchased 229 Main Street for Virtual Links Golf. When he heard about their archery plans, he offered them the basement and office space they didn't need.
Their personal motivation: their son Zachary tried out for the Platte City Middle School team twice and didn't make it. Amy and Matt got certified through USA Archery levels 1-3, worked with him over summer 2022, and he made the 7th-grade team that fall. Matt is currently pursuing his Level 4 credential to potentially train Olympic-level archers.

They stock Genesis bows, Easton arrows (NASP-approved), bow cases, arrow wraps, and custom bow strings. Matt experiments with bow customization including paint schemes.
Beyond standard classes, 10X hosts creative shoots that build community and keep archery fun: - Art-chery: Paint-filled balloon targets on canvas - Glow-in-the-Dark Shoot: Black lights with reactive target faces - Pick Your Target: Archers choose unique, custom target faces - Spooky Shoot (October): 3D targets including ogres, wolves, spiders, snakes
One standout: Victoria Kallo arrived with minimal experience wanting to try out for PCMS. After two months at 10X, she made the team. She continued training intensely and earned a spot on the State/Nationals team, finishing as the top female PCMS archer with 284/300 at Nationals—ranking 60th out of 2,635 middle school female archers nationwide. Her next goal: 290.
Amy emphasizes that archery is for everyone: "If you have the desire to learn, you can. Be patient and give yourself grace." They point to para-Olympic archery as proof that the sport truly has no ceiling.
Anniversary: Their first official class opened September 2023, with a community celebration planned for August 31.
