Bitner Firearms and Security Training is run by Colonel Teddy Bitner, a retired U.S. Army colonel with command experience including Operation Desert Storm and NATO planning for Bosnia operations. He's also a certified NRA handgun and rifle instructor and former reserve deputy sheriff in the Kansas City area.
The program centers on three core principles:
- •Safety cannot be compromised – Safe firearm handling rules apply in every course
- •Basics are always the basics – Solid fundamentals regardless of skill level
- •Defensive focus – All techniques build reactive self-defense skills (though students can apply them to recreational or competition shooting)

Colonels Bitner's courses are not NRA-branded, but he is NRA-certified and his CCW courses meet statutory requirements in both Missouri and Kansas.
