Location details and information

Prairie Grove Shotgun Sports operates a full-facility complex on 140 acres near Columbia, Missouri. What started as a community staple over 30 years ago is now owned by the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation, focused on expanding youth opportunities while maintaining the facility's reputation for serious competition.

The complex offers nine distinct shooting disciplines:

  • Sporting Clays: Two courses with 40+ stations total. The "No Whining" and "Whining" courses give you your pick—shoot over water, under towers, from various decks, in woods or meadows
  • Skeet: Six regulation fields throwing American, International, and Modern skeet. All lighted for night shooting
  • Trap: American Trap, Doubles Trap, and Modified International Trap. Night lighting available
  • 5-Stand: Two courses with changing targets. Mini-clays presents five stations over a small lake with 8-10 traps for a 25-bird course
  • Tower Classic: 90-foot custom tower with 21 throwers at various heights. Designed to challenge experienced shooters
  • Olympic Bunker Trap: Five stations with 15 fixed trap machines throwing targets at wider angles (up to 45 degrees) at 80-100 mph. Targets can be thrown 0-3 meters high. You get a second shot if you miss
  • Pheasant Chucker: 25-target challenge shot solo or as a two-person team. One oscillating thrower and a custom 360-degree thrower that mimics erratic pheasant flight
  • Pistol/Rifle Range: 100-yard range open during business hours. 200 and 300-yard benches available by appointment. Requires a Range Officer when shooters are present ($5 daily fee)
