Full description and what we offer
Lincoln Izaak Walton League operates a comprehensive shooting facility in Bennet with dedicated ranges for trap, rifle, pistol, and archery. The trap range alone features seven machines—six for singles and one dedicated to doubles—giving members flexibility for casual shooting or competitive trap leagues.
The trap range operates from sunrise (or 7 a.m., whichever is later) until 10 p.m. with lighting for evening shooters. Members pay annual range and membership fees, then $6 per round of 26 targets. The facility uses a card-based system with the Long Range Trap Card kiosk located inside the east clubhouse door.
Safety requirements: - Eye and ear protection mandatory - No shot larger than 7½ - Action must remain open until ready to shoot - Only one shell in shotgun at a time (except doubles)
The traps are typically closed during scheduled events like high school practices (Monday-Thursday, 3:30-6:30 p.m. during February-April) and organized trap leagues.
Running Thursdays from May 15 to September 11, 2025 (6-8 p.m.), this program welcomes youth 18 and under plus adult shooters. It follows NRA Rifle Silhouette Rules and features reactive target shooting with silhouettes instead of paper targets.
Pricing: - Youth Individual: $5 - Adult Member Without Youth: $10 - Adult Non-Member Without Youth: $15 - Adult With One Youth: $12 - Additional Youth: $5 each
Each youth receives 100 free rounds of ammunition with their paid fee (subject to availability). The course of fire includes 10 chickens, 10 pigs, 10 turkeys, and 10 rams fired within specific time limits.
Equipment needed: - .22 Rimfire rifle or handgun (Short, Long, or Long Rifle) - Standard velocity ammunition (high velocity rounds like CCI Stingers, Remington Viper, and Yellow Jackets will damage silhouettes and are prohibited) - 4-power scope or higher (preferred) - Safety glasses and hearing protection (mandatory) - Optional: shooting mat, spotting scope, ammo block, clear bore/chamber indicator
Club members assist shooters during the program, and the focus is on having fun in a relaxed learning environment. Contact Nick Lind at 402.499.7738 for questions.
The club hosts multiple match formats throughout the year: - .22 CMP Rimfire Sporter Rifle matches - 300-Yard Benchrest (NBRSA sanctioned) - Bowling Pins Match (reactive target pistol competition) - IHMSA Pistol matches - .22 Challenge Fun Match (informal events) - Project Appleseed (rifle marksmanship foundation training) - Summer Youth Trap League (young shooters) - Fall & Summer Trap League Events - ECTC Meets (Eastern Clay Target Conference)
Beyond shooting sports, the 10,801 S. 134th St. location includes an archery range, youth catch-and-release pond, conservation reserve land, and walking trails. The clubhouse is available for rental and hosts hunter education classes and hunter sight-in days.
Membership is required to use the self-use trap range. Members must be present when family or guests shoot—youth cannot shoot unattended. The membership card cannot be loaned to other people. All cardholders are considered members of the Lincoln Izaak Walton League.
The trap range stays open until 10 p.m. with lights, making it accessible for evening shooters year-round.
