Pioneer Sportsmen, Inc. hosts competitive shooting across eight distinct disciplines. Members and competitors participate in:
- •Bullseye Precision Pistol - Traditional pistol accuracy competition
- •USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) - Operation under NE29 division as Pioneer Action Shooters
- •IDPA/GPA - Defensive pistol and practical shooting sports with regular monthly matches
- •Steel Challenge - Speed and accuracy shooting format
- •Metallic Silhouette - Long-range target competition
- •Air Pistol/Rifle - Precision airgun disciplines
- •Archery - Field archery through NFAA affiliation
- •Project Appleseed - Rifle marksmanship fundamentals program
Youth development is embedded in Pioneer's mission. Two established programs:
Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) - US Archery sanctioned program producing competitive young archers across New Hampshire and beyond.
Pioneer Crew 556 - 4-H affiliated shooting team focused on rifle and pistol disciplines. Both programs emphasize safety protocols and skill development, with participants earning championships at national competitions.
Pioneer maintains clear, safety-focused age restrictions:

Exemptions exist for youth demonstrating exceptional maturity and prior formal instruction. Contact the Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO) or discipline chairs at least two weeks before events.
Pioneer has led the way in support of non-profit veteran organizations including Chaplains Emergency Relief Fund (CERF), Carry the Fallen, and Aiming for Zero.
The club runs the annual Aiming for Zero event (September 19-21) supporting veteran mental health initiatives.
Pioneer runs monthly matches across disciplines. Key 2025-2026 events:
- •Pioneer JOAD NH State Championship (February 7-8, 2026)
- •Thursday Night Archery League (Starts October 16th, $3/person)
- •Monthly IDPA, USPSA, and Steel Challenge matches
- •Ongoing air pistol/rifle and silhouette competitions

Located in Bow, New Hampshire - Exit 2 off Interstate 89
Driving directions: Take Exit 2, make left on Clinton Street/State Highway 13 heading west. Travel 3.5 miles until you see the large white sign with black lettering on the right. Turn right onto the dirt road to reach facilities.
Pioneer maintains certified instructors across disciplines available for both group and individual instruction. Member instructors are authorized to conduct exemption evaluations for youth shooting.
The club actively accepts membership applications. Operations depend on member support and volunteer commitment—described as "the hallmark of our club." Volunteers staff ranges, run matches, and mentor youth programs.
