Full description and what we offer
Formed in 1954, Suffolk Archers started small and moved several times before landing on their current 20-acre forest property in Huntington Station back in 1960. What they built there is a complete outdoor archery facility designed around one principle: safety first, fun mandatory.
Members get round-the-clock access to the entire property—365 days a year. When you join, your spouse and all children under 21 are included at no extra cost. It's built as a family club, and they treat it that way.
| Course Type | Details |
|---|---|
| Target Ranges | 10 yards to 80 yards across two open fields |
| NFAA Field Course | 28 sanctioned shooting points |
| Knock-a-Block Targets | 28 stations for traditional-style shooting |
| 3D Animal Targets | 28+ life-size targets positioned on woodland trails |
| Night Shooting | Illuminated 10-30 yard range for evening practice |
| Tree Stand Shots | Family-friendly multi-deer scenarios |
| Moving Target | Live 3D deer target for hunting simulation |
All courses are designed with safety as the primary focus. Trails wind through the property, targets are positioned in realistic woodland settings, and safety is taught, stressed, and enforced.
Suffolk Archers doesn't rent equipment. You need to own your own bow before joining.
They recommend this path:
1. Visit a professional archery shop first. They provide a list of regional shops (Gotham Archery in Brooklyn/Manhattan, Queens Archery in Flushing, Smith Point Archery in Patchogue, and others). Get fitted for equipment that feels right for your type of shooting.
2. Shoot indoors on practice ranges while you learn your gear.
3. Then join Suffolk Archers. To apply for membership, you'll need to be sponsored by a current member in good standing. All applicants go through an interview process with their sponsor present.
Alternatively, you can schedule a guest visit first to tour the facility and decide if membership fits your needs.
Suffolk Archers runs 15+ events annually:
All tournaments have categories for different skill levels and equipment types—you compete against shooters at your own level. Competition is optional; having fun is not.
Suffolk Archers is a non-profit, member-owned organization governed by an elected Board of Directors. Activities are run by committees—Forest Preservation, Events, Membership, etc. Members gain ownership share points in both the club and its 20-acre property.
Guests must complete a waiver to participate in events. Forms are available on the website.
