Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club operates shooting facilities across several specialized ranges on their Napanoch property. The club maintains:
- •300-yard rifle and pistol range with covered shooting positions and concrete berms
- •Rimfire and archery range for .22 LR shooting
- •Dedicated skeet range with club house
- •Trap range open to public shoots
Hours are 9:00 AM to sunset daily. All members must display current membership cards when using ranges.
New shooters welcome. Winter league runs January through April (1/17, 2/21, 3/21, 4/18) with shooting from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 100 and 200 yards. Three course-of-fire formats:
- •Long Gong: 250-300 yard benchrest format
- •.22 NRL: Up to 100 yards
- •.22 PRS: 50 yards to 365 yards
Entry: $5 for members, $10 for non-members, free for ages 12-17. Sign up at PractiScore. Contact 845.421.1080.
- •Winter (January-March): Fridays 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM (arrive 9:30 for squad assignments)
- •Monthly: 1st and 3rd Saturday, 1:00 PM start
Chairman: Bill Buskey, 845-361-2778. The club hosts an annual Skeet Top Gun competition in August with categories for Class A, B, and C shooters.
Open to the public on 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month (spring/summer). Shooting begins at 9:00 AM, arrive by 8:30 AM. Cost: $5.00 per round. Bring up to 2 guests. Sign up at wrg.club/trap. Contact Fred at 845-883-6454 or Hank at 845-564-2270 for volunteer opportunities.
Competitive benchrest shooting for .22 rimfire. Last season match was 9/14/25, starting at 9 AM. Rimfire range closes to casual shooting during matches. Info at wrg.club/benchrest.
Non-members must complete an insurance waiver before shooting on any club range. Waivers available at the 200-yard range building.
Member Requirements: - Display membership card at all times on ranges (except during Trap, Skeet, and target matches) - 2026 dues due by January 1st - Online payment available at wrg.club/payment - Members can bring guests (guest waiver required)
- •Membership Meetings: 2nd Tuesday of each month
Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club offers more than just range time:
- •Dinner meetings with reservation system (pre-register by first Tuesday of month; late walk-ins $20/plate)

Strict enforcement of range conduct:
- •No shooting before 9:00 AM
- •All firearms unloaded with actions open and safeties on when anyone goes downrange
- •No center fire firearms on rimfire/archery range
- •No glass targets; brass cases acceptable in provided bins
- •Steel plate targets minimum distances: 7 yards (handgun), 50 yards (rifle)
- •All trash and spent casings must be removed
- •No photography/video without member permission
- •Motor vehicles downrange must display hazard lights and warning signs
Violation of range rules may result in membership dismissal.

- •From Route 17: Exit 113 onto Route 209 (through Wurtsboro to Ellenville), continue 2-3 miles to Route 55 West. Turn left, go 1.7 miles, look for Sportsmen's Road on left before bridge. Turn left onto Sportsmen's Road, first driveway on left.
- •From Route 44/55: Continue to Route 209, left for 8 miles to Route 55 West sign, right turn, continue 1.7 miles to Sportsmen's Road.
Main clubhouse at top of drive; ranges visible along drive including rimfire/archery on left, skeet/trap area mid-property, 200-yard rifle/pistol range at end.
Membership Involvement: The club actively seeks board members and volunteer leaders. No formal firearms background required—just commitment to helping run and shape the club.
