About Oak Harbor Conservation Club
Oak Harbor Conservation Club is a non-profit organization chartered in 1948 and dedicated to promoting shooting sports, wildlife conservation, and outdoor recreation in northwest Ohio. The club serves the Port Clinton area and surrounding communities with comprehensive facilities and programming for shooters of all ages and experience levels.
Shooting Facilities
The club operates multiple shooting ranges to accommodate various disciplines:
- •Indoor Pistol Range - Climate-controlled facility on Gordon Road for year-round pistol training and competition
- •Indoor Rifle Range - Temperature-controlled space for rifle marksmanship and safety instruction
- •Outdoor 100-Yard Range - Full-distance rifle shooting on the Gordon Road property
- •400-Acre Private Hunting Preserve - Year-round hunting access with upland bird releases and waterfowl opportunities
Programs and Activities
Competitive Shooting:
- •Smallbore Rifle League (Tuesday evenings 6-8 pm)
- •Tombstone Matches (second Friday monthly at 6 pm)
- •CMP-sanctioned rimfire competitions
- •Handgun matches throughout the year
Training Programs:
- •Free Junior Rifle Safety and Marksmanship classes
- •Free Junior Pistol Instruction
- •Ladies-Only Self Defense Program (1st and 3rd Mondays, 5 pm) - both armed and unarmed instruction
- •Concealed Handgun License Courses
- •NRA Certified firearms safety instruction
- •Winter Archery Program
Hunting and Fishing:
- •Private hunting preserve access
- •Waterfowl hunting opportunities
- •Youth fishing programs and annual fishing derby
- •Pond and creek fishing access
Membership and Access
Oak Harbor Conservation Club is a member-based organization. Many programs are free and open to the public, including youth classes and ladies' self-defense instruction. Conservation Mission
Since 1948, the club has been committed to wildlife preservation, habitat restoration, and environmental stewardship. The club maintains the Dr. L.J. Darr Memorial Wetlands Restoration Project and actively promotes conservation education throughout Ottawa County.
