Full description and what we offer
Ponca City Rifle & Pistol Club started in 1952 using a VFW-leased range in the city for just $35 a year. By the early 2000s, the club needed more—they got an NRA grant to build a pistol bay. Then development happened. Over 50 members showed up to zoning hearings, but the law didn't protect them. In January 2006, PCR&PC voluntarily closed to protect public safety rather than risk it.
For two years, members searched for land. One member cosigned a loan, they built a business plan, and eventually bought the current property at 13503 Q St, Tonkawa, OK 74653 in southern Kay County. Volunteers built fences, renovated a 30x40 metal clubhouse, and opened on Labor Day 2008.
Location: Between Ponca City and Tonkawa, serving north central Oklahoma and south central Kansas. GPS: N 36° 37.804 W 97° 13.710

The club continues upgrading facilities as funding allows. Everything is member-maintained with a real sense of ownership across the 300+ member base.
New members must complete a Range Safety Orientation Class (normally second Sunday of each month at 2 p.m.). Download the membership application and range regulations from the website, mail it to the secretary/treasurer, schedule your orientation, and you're in.
Gate access uses a keypad code. New gate system opens automatically on exit—just check if incoming members are club members as you leave.
The club hosts competitions for all skill levels and educational events throughout the year. Check their calendar before visiting—ranges may close during scheduled competitions. Events are posted on their front page and Facebook.
