Full description and what we offer

Charles—"The Work Wookiee"—runs Creative Freedom out of Oregon, and his philosophy is straightforward: you're not like everyone else, so your firearm shouldn't look like everyone else's.

Cerakote Finishing

H-Series and C-Series ceramic coatings for durability and corrosion resistance. Single-color jobs run $120 for handgun slides, $150 for frames, $250 complete. Multi-color, pattern stenciling, and laser imaging require custom quotes.

  • Handgun slides: $120
  • Frames: $150
  • Complete (slide + frame): $250
  • AR-15/AK uppers, lowers, handguards: $350

Hydro-Dipping (Hydrographics)

Water-based submersion transfer method using printed film designs. Pricing depends on part complexity and film licensing requirements. Standard rates:

  • Handgun slides: $220
  • Frames: $220
  • Complete sets: $420
  • AR-15/AK platforms: $420

Works on non-firearms too—motorcycles, motorcycle parts, tactical gear, basically anything that accepts paint and submerges in water.

Fiber Laser Engraving & Imaging

Precision surface etching and deep engraving using galvo fiber laser technology. Custom pricing based on complexity:

  • Laser production: $80/hour
  • Design fee (new projects): $50/hour
  • Setup fee (repeat designs): $30/hour
  • Gunsmithing (full disassembly, assembly, function/safety testing): $120/hour

Charles holds certifications most custom gunsmithing shops can't match: - Certified Cerakote Applicator from NIC Industries Inc - Certified Hydrographics Dipper from ATF Hydrographics (flew to Georgia for week-long on-the-job training) - Fiber Laser Training mentored by Jeff Stockton at Fiber Laser Training - FFL-07 Federal Firearms License

Work includes Star Wars-themed firearms (Boba Fett, Disney Cerakote), HALO handguns, patriotic Strike Industries builds, cel-shaded tactical rifles, CMMG Banshees, and specialty pieces like the Half Breed Dragon Blade.

  • Standard lead time: 3-5 weeks from receipt for basic work. True custom/creative pieces take longer—Charles prioritizes quality over speed.

Requirements: - 50% deposit required before work starts - Return postage must be included; if not, it's added to final balance - Gunsmithing fee applied to firearms arriving fully assembled ($120/hour for disassembly/reassembly) - Parts should arrive clean; excessive cleaning/prep work charged at $50/hour - Photos of actual parts required for accurate quotes (not manufacturer photos)

Charles started with hydro-dipping after watching YouTube tutorials and realizing "it's not that simple." He trained under Chris at ATF Hydrographics, then added fiber laser work after seeing what it could do. Cerakote came naturally given Creative Freedom's focus on the firearms industry—and convenient proximity to the NIC Industries facility just 6 miles away.

He's also an outdoorsman: camping, hiking, paddle boarding, firearms training, motocross (though he admits he's "not that great" at the last two). Dedicated to his father's legacy of creative encouragement and problem-solving.

No fixed pricing for complex builds. Use the Custom Pricing Form with detailed descriptions and photos of your actual parts. Charles will respond with project-specific quotes. Also sells merchandise (Creative Freedom branded shirts) and offers a porting package for Walther PDP handguns ($450).

"Creative Freedom. That's what. You want personal customization to your own unique taste? You're in the right place."
