Snake River Sportsmen is an Oregon non-profit corporation incorporated in 1983 that operates two separate shooting facilities across Malheur County. They're affiliated with the NRA, CMP, IPSC, and all major shooting sport governing bodies.
Located 1.5 miles south of Vale on Lytle Boulevard, the Vale Range spans approximately 480 acres and handles everything from plinking to precision competition.
High-Power Rifle Setup: - Firing and impact berms at every 100-yard interval from 100 to 1000 yards (1000-yard line requires board approval) - Large covered firing line with range flags for NRA sanctioned matches - Radio/phone communication between line officer and pit for safety
Benchrest Shooting: - 14 concrete benches (left and right-hand configurations) under covered firing line - Monthly 100/200 yard benchrest matches - Monthly 600-yard benchrest matches - Open to recreational shooters for sighting in and general practice
Pistol Facilities: - Five pistol pits for practice and recreational use - Monthly practical pistol matches organized by discipline directors
.22 Rimfire Range: - Eight covered concrete benches on southwest property side - Silhouette target stands at 40, 60, 77, and 100 meters - Target carriers for 50-yard benchrest matches - Four additional covered benches for pistols or rifles to 300 yards
Black Powder & Specialty Shooting: - Silhouette matches with rails at 200, 300, 385, and 500 meters - Large open area for muzzleloading matches during off-fire season
Purchased in 2006 and located at 3443 SW 4th Ave. north of Ontario Airport, this dedicated shotgun facility provides:
- •2 skeet fields
- •4 trap fields with lights for night shoots
- •Full sporting clays course with new card system
Sporting Clays Card System: - Pre-loaded Bird Cards available via kiosk: 100 birds for $40 or 300 birds for $120 - Bulk purchases from staff: 35¢ per bird (up to 1,000), or 30¢ per bird (1,000+) - Card system allows access to entire course unless club match is scheduled - Members must complete Memorandum of Understanding and receive gate code
Regular competition calendar includes: - Weekly skeet range open shooting (Thursdays 3pm, Sundays 1pm) - Monthly benchrest matches (100/200 yard and 600 yard) - Seasonal trap and sporting clays events - Law enforcement training programs - Concealed carry classes through The Outdoorsman - Annual member meetings and special events
Check the events calendar before visiting—the Vale Range has limited/no access during non-participant events. Red flag on the flagpole indicates High Power/Long Range closure to general membership.
Snake River Sportsmen enforces strict range protocols:

"Membership in Snake River Sportsmen, Inc. is a privilege, not a right. Violation of any range safety rule can result in loss of membership."
All shooters must: - Use appropriate ear and eye protection - Police brass, paper, and debris - Keep firearms benched with actions open when not firing - Report safety infractions to Range Officers - Ensure all projectiles impact on SRS property

Family memberships include spouse and/or minor children. All memberships expire December 31st unless renewed Sept-Dec (then extended through following year). Current or former members renew through the website login.
