Full description and what we offer
Lancaster Archery Supply began in 1983 with Rob Kaufhold's vision. At 21 years old with no credit, Rob sketched plans in his father's tool and die shop at 2195 Old Philadelphia Pike. Fulton Bank believed in him, and with his father co-signing, Rob opened a 25 x 40 shop—about the size of a two-car garage—with a small range upstairs.
Today, that tiny shop has grown into the largest archery-only retailer and distributor in the U.S. The current operation includes a 22,000 square foot, two-story pro/retail shop and a 100,000 square foot warehouse in Upper Leacock Township, employing 155 people across both locations.
Pro/Retail Shop (Local Inventory) - Approximately 75% hunting equipment for archers - Full range of bows, arrows, broadheads, and accessories - Dedicated pro shop for competitive archers
Online Division - Approximately 80% professional and target shooting equipment - Ships to customers worldwide - Serves the global archery community
The dual approach—local hunting focus with a global target archery presence—lets each division strengthen the other. The company went online in 1996, well ahead of most retail competitors.
The Lancaster Archery Academy offers instruction for all skill levels: - Beginner classes for newcomers - Intermediate and advanced training - Couples and date nights - Senior coffee club programs - Archery Tag® team-building events for corporate groups
"People of all ages, sizes, and capabilities can participate in archery," says founder Rob Kaufhold. "My grandfather shot a bow for the first time at age 68."
Lancaster Archery Supply hosts the Lancaster Archery Classic, now in its 20th year and recognized as the world's largest indoor archery tournament. The 2025 event is scheduled for January 23-24.
The company operates Competition Archery Media (CAM), which: - Produces the Competition Archery Media Podcast - Broadcasts professional tournaments on television and online - Covers competitive tips and archery news - Spotlights athletes and the sport globally
Lancaster Archery Supply is the home business of Casey Kaufhold, the 20-year-old female face of international archery. She: - Won bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics - Competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics - Held the #1 world ranking in women's recurve in 2023 - Trains six days a week, shooting 200-250 arrows daily - Is sponsored by six companies, including Lancaster Archery
Casey has been coached by her father Rob and currently works with coaches Heather Pfeil and Dick Tone. She switched to archery from gymnastics at age 12 and trains for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and beyond.
Co-founder Carole Kaufhold serves as current CEO. The next generation—Casey and her brother Conor (studying at Texas A&M)—are positioned to grow into management roles, ensuring the business stays family-owned and operated in Lancaster County.
