Philly Gun Range operates at 542 N. Percy Street in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood. Open to the public as walk-ins only, no reservations needed. The range is staffed by firearms professionals backed by decades of hands-on experience across multiple firearm types.
The range features 12 well-lit shooting lanes, each 20 yards long. They accommodate: - All handgun calibers - Rifles from .223 through .308 - Shotguns (slug or buckshot only) - Semiautomatic to fully automatic firearms - Everything in between (except .50 BMG)
You can bring your own gun or rent from their selection:

Important: If you're renting firearms, you must come in a group of two or more. Solo shooters can only bring their own firearms. International visitors must book a private 1-on-1 lesson to shoot alone.
All first-time shooters must complete a 15-minute Firearms Basics lesson before using the range ($15). This covers: - Firearm safety fundamentals - Proper grip, hold, and stance - Sight alignment and sight picture - Safe handling procedures
Shooters with prior experience who demonstrate safe firearm etiquette to staff may bypass the lesson.
Firearms Basics/Intro to Handguns - Duration: 15 minutes - Cost: $15 - Walk-in only - Required for all new shooters
Intermediate Handgun Class - Duration: 2 hours - Cost: $230 - Requires reservation (can book solo) - Prerequisites: Basic Handgun knowledge or completion of basics class - Topics: Target acquisition, follow-through, malfunction clearances, introduction to drawing from holster
Additional Classes Available: - Concealed Carry/Drawing From Concealment - Women's Intro to Concealed Carry - Intro to Rifle - Children's Classes - Private 1-on-1 instruction (including sessions for international visitors) - NJ CCW Permit courses (resident and non-resident)

Range rules are strict: - Zero tolerance for alcohol, marijuana, or controlled substances - No rapid fire (minimum 3 seconds between shots) - Eye and eye protection mandatory at all times - No head shots for inexperienced shooters (shots must be minimum 15" below target hangers) - Only ammunition purchased at the range allowed for rental firearms - Violators are expelled with no refunds
Age requirements: - Must be 21+ to rent handguns - Ages 18–20 can rent rifles/shotguns - Children's classes available
The range emphasizes safety, professionalism, and community. Their tagline says it all: "Safety, Professionalism & Community." Range Safety Officers enforce all rules strictly. If you can't clear a firearm malfunction, signal staff – never turn or leave the line with a malfunctioning gun in hand.
