Full description and what we offer
Hammer Down Armament opened in October 2024 when Marc McMaster and Rob Bromiley took over what was previously J&E Guns in Bellefonte. Both owners come from the shooting sports—Marc is a competitive 3Gun and Tactical Games shooter who competed in the National Championship in Austin, TX, and Rob brings over 10 years of firearms industry experience. Their mission is straightforward: provide safe, responsible firearm ownership at reasonable prices, built on actual knowledge rather than just retail.
"We pride ourselves in being knowledgeable about the products we see and the services we provide. Our aim is to build a community around the store, not just building a customer base but building relationships with our customers."
This is where Hammer Down stands out. They handle full Cerakote customization—the ceramic coating that protects and personalizes your gear.
Why Cerakote matters: - Durability: Ceramic coating resists wear, corrosion, and chemicals better than standard finishes - Customization: Available in solid colors (tactical black to vibrant hues), camo patterns, stencils, or custom graphics - Performance: Improves firearm longevity and function - Aesthetics: Transform a standard gun into something that reflects your taste
1. Consultation - Discuss your vision and select colors, finishes, and patterns 2. Preparation - Items are cleaned, blasted, and inspected for proper adhesion 3. Application - Skilled technicians apply the finish with precision 4. Curing - Heat-cured to create a strong, lasting bond 5. Inspection - Every piece is reviewed for quality assurance
They handle full builds, pistols, rifles, magazines, and small parts. Quick turnaround means minimal downtime.
Services: - Federal and Pennsylvania background checks (PICS system) - Interstate firearm transfers from other states - In-store pickup for reserved items - Suppressor transfers via Silencer Shop kiosk - Manufacturer warranty connections
To purchase in PA: - Valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license acceptable) - Age: 18+ for rifles/shotguns, 21+ for handguns - Pass background check through Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) - Out-of-state residents can buy rifles and shotguns if they meet federal requirements; handguns must be purchased in your home state
They offer maintenance, repairs, customizations, and cleaning. Contact the shop to discuss your specific needs.
