Southern Chester County Sportsmen's & Farmers' Association operates a full shooting facility in Kennett Square built around member access and safety. This is a volunteer-run organization, not a commercial range—membership gets you year-round access to facilities built to stay.
The club maintains five covered, multi-station ranges:
| Distance | Usage |
|---|---|
| 100 yards | Rifle and centerfire |
| 75 yards | Rifle and centerfire |
| 50 yards | Rifle, pistol, centerfire, shotgun patterning |
| 25 yards | Pistol, rifle, shotgun patterning |
| 7/15 yards | Pistol and close-range work |
Each shed features concrete floors, motion-activated lighting, electrical outlets, wall fans, steel roofs, and interior wall panels. All ranges have "down range" safety lights installed. Wheelchair-accessible concrete ramps are in place at each facility.
Rifle, Pistol & Trap Shooting: - Nov–Feb: 10am–4pm Mon–Sat; 12pm–4pm Sun - Mar–Apr, Sep–Oct: 10am–5pm Mon–Sat; 12pm–4pm Sun - May–Aug: 10am–7pm Mon–Fri; 10am–6pm Sat; 12pm–4pm Sun
All ranges closed Christmas Day, Easter, and Labor Day
Centerfire semi-automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns are permitted on most ranges during normal hours. Signs on each shed specify what firearms are allowed where.
The Shotgun Sports Committee operates a regulation trap field for 16-yard and handicap shoots. A minimum of two shooters required. Specific ammunition specs: #7½, #8, or #9 lead shot only (steel #6 permitted), maximum 1400 fps velocity and 1⅛ oz loads.
Muzzle-loading shotguns are prohibited on the trap range. Clay targets must be thrown by the Association machine only.
The club runs regular events including the Indoor Archery Winter League and specialized seminars (Ladies Concealed Carry Seminar offered annually). Membership renewal opens July 1st and closes September 14th online. New members can register on the website. The club encourages active NRA membership and provides renewal links for members.
Beyond firearms, SCCS&FA maintains an indoor archery range, outdoor Byrd Road course, plus a classroom, lake access, and camping—making it a multi-discipline shooting club.
