Full description and what we offer
Western Heritage Center Archery Range opened in 2016 on 10 acres at 3534 E. Berry St., founded by Jim Austin to meet growing demand for accessible archery venues. The facility operates Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a simple pricing model: $20 with rental equipment or $10 if you bring your own.
Equipment rentals are available for ages 4 through adult, making it easy to test the sport without investment. On-site instructors guide beginners through fundamentals. Unlike specialized competition ranges, Western Heritage targets families and recreational archers who want to shoot without traveling far.
"It's a sport you can get into for relatively minimal bucks," says community member Brian Murnahan. "And I wouldn't recommend spending a lot until you are certain it is for you."
Bows range from under $75 to $1,000+, so the barrier to entry is low compared to other sports.
Western Heritage operates as more than a shooting venue:
Archery participation jumped over 20 percent from 2012 to 2015, with 23.8 million Americans 18+ now involved. It's no longer just a hunter's sport—families compete, kids qualify for nationals, and suburban archers treat it like golf: a precision sport requiring repetition and technique.
