Virginia Residents: - Single primary form of ID (government photo ID with current address) - Secondary form only needed if primary lacks current address - Handguns: minimum 21 years old - Rifles/shotguns: minimum 18 years old - Rifles/shotguns: no additional requirements for assault firearms

Out-of-State Buyers: - Primary and secondary government ID required - Handgun purchases must transfer to an FFL in your home state (federal law) - Military personnel stationed in Virginia are treated as residents with military ID and assignment orders

Ammunition: - Handgun ammo: 21 years minimum (federal) - Rifle/shotgun ammo: 18 years minimum (federal)
