01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
Located at 1951 Potters Rd, Building SR-9 in Virginia Beach, the Oceana range operates as a Navy MWR facility serving active duty personnel, retirees, family members, DoD civilians, and the general public. The facility brings together clay target shooting and archery under one management.
The shooting disciplines include:
Staff provides instruction across all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced competitive shooters. The range enforces strict safety protocols including eye and ear protection requirements, chamber-open movement rules, and one-gun-at-a-time operation.
Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made up to 48 hours in advance online or by phone at 757-433-2875. Time slots run one hour, with the last slot beginning at 3:15 p.m. All shooting must conclude by 4:30 p.m.
The facility sells 12 and 20-gauge ammunition on-site. Shotgun rentals are available for shooters without their own firearms, though quantities are limited. Shooters must bring their own eye and ear protection and are required to have a "buddy" present to pull clays—the range does not provide clay pullers.
An adjacent archery facility includes:
Field tips are required; broadheads are not permitted. Crossbow users can request specialized targets. Kid and adult bows are available for rent.
Skeet shooting requires 7.5, 8, or 9 shot loads in 2¾" shells. Buckshot is prohibited. Only shotguns allowed—no rifles, pistols, or tactical modifications. Minimum barrel length is 18".
