FMC Sportsman's Club operates as a private membership organization serving shooters, archers, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts across West Virginia. Located in Winfield, the club provides gated access to multiple shooting disciplines, hunting property, and camping facilities for dues-paying members only.
Membership ($300 annual dues + $150 assessment = $450 total) includes access to:
- •Rifle Range - Gated rifle shooting range with safety protocols and required sign-in
- •3-D Archery Range - Practice range plus 3-D course with field tip targets (broadheads prohibited)
- •Skeet Ranges #3 & #4 - Clay target shooting with club-supplied or personal throwers
- •Hunting Grounds - Dedicated property on both sides of Route 35 for rifle and archery hunting
- •Camping & RV Sites - Long-term and temporary camping with full hookups
- •Swimming Pool - Seasonal pool access
- •Lakes - Two fishing lakes on property
- •Trail System - 4-wheeler and walking trails
- •Basketball/Tennis Courts - Recreational facilities
- •Picnic Shelters - Rental shelters for member events
Retiree memberships available - Members age 62+ with 15+ years continuous membership can request retiree status.
The rifle range features gated access to control non-member shooting. All members must carry membership cards and sign in prior to shooting. Members may bring up to 4 guests at $5 per guest per visit (must be accompanied at all times). Warning: Shotguns are strictly prohibited at the rifle range; violations result in range privileges loss and possible membership termination.
- •Closure Schedule: Rifle range closes during rifle deer season (except Sundays) to ensure hunter safety. Gates are locked; use main parking area only.
The archery range includes a practice area and a 3-D course located on the 4-wheeler trail system. The 3-D course features multiple Rinehart and McKenzie animal targets with two shooting stations per target:
- •White stations - Beginner difficulty
- •Red stations - Experienced shooter difficulty
- •Distances: 15 to 40+ yards per shot
Field tips only - broadheads are prohibited on all targets. The shooting tower requires shooters to be 12+ years old (with parent supervision for younger shooters) and limits occupancy to two people max with combined weight under 350 pounds.
- •Closure Schedule: Also closed during rifle deer season except Sundays.
Skeet Ranges #3 and #4 are currently operational for clay target shooting. The club has installed throwers in high and low houses on Range #4, operated by board-approved trappers only:

Members supply their own targets or use club targets at 10¢ each or $2.50 per round. Portable throwers must be used when approved trappers aren't operating the fixed equipment. Members only - no guests allowed on skeet ranges.

FMC property spans both sides of Route 35 with dedicated hunting grounds. All hunters must:
- •Sign in and out at the Main Gate Hunters Sign In Station
- •Carry valid WV hunting license (state law)
- •Remove all deer stands/blinds by season end
- •Follow all WV DNR regulations
- •Park only in designated areas
- •Members only - no guest hunting allowed. Dogs are prohibited for training or hunting on club property.
Temporary Camping (2025 rates): - 10 RV sites with water, electric, sewer: $25/night, $125/week, $350/month (sites C7-C10) - 5 tent sites with electric: $10/night - All temporary sites include firepits; firewood available at $10 for 30 pieces or $25 per crate - Reserve online or contact Ralph Winter (304-545-4638, [email protected])
Long-Term Camping: - Annual fee: $450 (May 1 - April 30) - Waiting list available; updated twice yearly (January & June) - Grass cutting required minimum every 3 weeks (April 5 - Sept 30) - All campsites have sewer; backflow prevention devices and water pressure regulators required - Assessment conducted annually on patios, wheel pads, water/electric/sewer systems
Camper Storage: - Annual storage fee: $250 - 6-month minimum occupancy requirement - Proof of insurance and liability release required - Waiting list available
- •Speed Limit: 5 MPH - Strictly enforced on all club roads (exception: designated trails). This is a safety priority for members and guests.
- •Parking: Designated areas only; no grass parking except in parking lot.
- •Guest Policy: Up to 4 guests per family per visit (or guest families up to 5 people). Members responsible for guest conduct and must ensure guest compliance with all club rules including speed limit. Guests cannot bring 4-wheelers to club property.
- •Trails: Closed during rifle deer season (gun season weeks). No recreational riding during closures.
The club hosts regular member events:
- •New Member Sign-ups - Multiple dates May through July (Shelter #3)
- •Movie Nights - Monthly Friday evenings (Shelter #1)
- •Bingo Nights - June, July, August (Shelter #1, 7:30 PM)
- •Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks - July 3, 6:30 PM
- •Annual Bean Dinner - September 20, 1 PM (Shelter #1)
- •Trunk-or-Treat - October 25, 5:30-7:30 PM
