Max Creek Outdoors started with a simple idea: Steve D'Orazio was hunting waterfowl in South Dakota when he realized his home state of Wisconsin needed a real shop for hunters and shooting sports people. In 2010, he opened Max Creek (named after his Labrador) in Oregon, Wisconsin. His son Sean joined in 2011, and the business has grown into the go-to spot for hunters, competitive shooters, and anyone serious about firearms in the region.
Max Creek stocks new handguns, rifles, and shotguns from major manufacturers, plus a rotating selection of used firearms—including estate purchases and collectibles. Their team includes sales manager Jonny Biber and range officer Charlie Boyd, both ready to talk specifics about what you're looking for.
If they don't have a gun in stock, they'll source it for you. They offer a 45-day layaway program (20% down, no interest) on new purchases.
Market pricing on centerfire, rimfire, shotgun, and handgun ammunition from major brands. They stock holsters, cases, optics, cleaning supplies, magazines, knives, slings, bipods, rests, ear and eye protection, and targets. Need something specific? They can order it.
Six lanes with electronic targets and clean air ventilation. Safety is non-negotiable—Range Officers check you in, walk you through the waiver, and brief you on rules. Eye and ear protection required (rentals available for $2 and $1 respectively).
Walk-ins welcome first-come, first-serve. Call 608.835.3825 to schedule range time.
Don't own the gun you want to fire? Max Creek rents a wide variety of handguns, rifles, and shotguns—$15/hour per gun or $35/hour for unlimited access. Ammunition available at market pricing (walk-in ammo not allowed with rental guns).
Basic introductory classes for new shooters or anyone exploring the sport. 30-40 minutes classroom, 30 minutes live fire. They provide demo firearms if you don't own one.
Max Creek partners with SilencerShop.com and operates a Silencer Shop Kiosk in-store. The process:
1. Complete digital application (on-screen, includes fingerprinting and passport photos) 2. Pay $100 NFA transfer fee 3. Buy your silencer online and have it shipped to Max Creek 4. Use it on the range while waiting for ATF approval
You can also purchase directly at SilencerShop.com and have it shipped to Max Creek for processing.
Authorized Browning Safe dealer. They stock the Silver Series (their biggest seller) and can order any Browning model. Why Browning? Outstanding construction, fire resistance, and a lifetime replacement warranty.
Max Creek processes Federal Firearm Licensee transfers including all paperwork and background checks for $50 per transfer (non-refundable if denied).
