Full description and what we offer
The Suring Sportsman's Club operates a rifle range and organizes regular events that bring together hunters, shooters, and outdoor enthusiasts in Oconto County. Their mission is straightforward: promote safe and responsible fishing and hunting practices, support wildlife conservation, and create outdoor experiences for the Suring area and surrounding communities.
The club maintains a rifle range at their primary location and hosts several recurring programs:
Meetings are held the last Wednesday of each month (no meetings November or December) at the rifle range at 6:30 PM. All members are welcome to attend. Life memberships are available for those who attend a monthly meeting.
Suring Sportsman's Club Rifle Range 8699 River Road Suring, WI 54174 P.O. Box 112, Suring, WI 54174
Note: The club closes seasonally December 1–11 each year. Check their Facebook page (facebook.com/suringsportsmansclub) for event photos, videos, and updates.
First Annual Sausage Shoot – Community shooting competition held in June where participants shoot targets with a string attached to sausage prizes. Winners are announced and sausage is cooked on-site by volunteers. Both youth and adult divisions participate.
Youth Outdoor Fun Day – Held in August, this is the club's marquee educational event. In 2025, it featured instruction from Oconto County Sheriff's Deputies, archery competitions with multiple bullseyes hit by participants, fishing in a trout tank with take-home fish, clay shooting with various shotgun sizes, and beginner fly fishing and bait casting lessons. A fishing game station serves younger children. Prizes include cash, fishing poles (donated by local organizations), and raffle items.
The Suring Sportsman's Club maintains strong ties with local law enforcement and community organizations. The Village of Suring Police Department has recognized the club's work with thank you notes, and the group partners with the Oconto County Sheriff's Office for youth education programs.
The club maintains published range rules available on their website to ensure safe operations. Full club minutes from monthly meetings dating back to 2021 are archived and available for member reference.
