Full description and what we offer
Thunder Ridge Outfitters has been operating since 1982 as a licensed and insured Wyoming outfitter. The operation is a father-and-son team—both 5th generation Wyoming natives with decades of hunting experience across the state's best units.
They specialize in trophy-class guided hunts for:
Guided Trophy Hunts include everything: professional guide, all meals and lodging, field lunches and beverages, airport transportation, meat processing and taxidermist transportation, and conservation stamps. You're done the day you harvest.
DIY Unguided Drop Camps give you independence with full camp setup—wall tents, stoves, all cookware and utensils, sleeping systems, propane, water, coolers, and more. They spend one day setting up and showing you the area, then it's your hunt to run.
Thunder Ridge hunts draw-only units with no over-the-counter tags available. Their areas have low drawing odds unless you have preference points—this is intentional. By spreading across multiple units and hunting almost exclusively public ground, they keep hunting pressure minimal and trophy quality high. Their trophy rooms showcase the results: consistent big animals year after year.

Their houndsman, Jake May, has 20+ years of experience and runs some of Wyoming's best hunting dogs. They focus on trophy tom lions, preferably over 130 lbs. Fair warning: these hunts are physically demanding. If you're not in shape, your odds of success drop significantly. Over-the-counter tags mean no waiting for a draw.
"We are a trophy operation and focus on killing Tom lions and preferably over 130lbs."
A $200 deposit secures priority listing before applying for a license. Once drawn, deposits are non-refundable and the balance is due by September 1st. If you don't draw, your deposit transfers to the next year to keep your priority slot. Cancellations after September 1st forfeit everything.
