Hanson Precision Guns and Ammo operates on three core pillars: Attitude (teaching by example), Skills (trained professionals), and Knowledge (survival-focused instruction). Since opening over two decades ago, they've built out a complete firearms ecosystem—classroom training, retail shop, and ammunition/reloading supplies all in one location.
The training menu is extensive and progressive. You can build skills step-by-step or jump into specialized courses depending on your background.
Dynamic Defensive Rifle I (4-6 hours) Teaches standing position, sling manipulation, malfunction clearing, reloads, and ammo management. 100% hands-on with 250 rounds FMJ required.
Dynamic Defensive Rifle II (4-6 hours) Builds on Level I with sitting, kneeling, prone positions. Includes movement drills—shooting while moving forward, backward, laterally to and from cover. Requires completion of Rifle I first.
Dynamic Defensive Rifle III (2 days) Adds secondary weapon systems. You learn rifle-to-pistol transitions, when to deploy each system, and team-based threat scenarios. Prerequisites: Rifle I & II + Advanced Pistol. 400 rounds rifle, 100 rounds pistol needed.
ASK Night Course (3-5 hours) Weapons-mounted light training for defensive low-light shooting. Requires strong daytime rifle skills first. Equipment: flashlight, headlight, extra batteries.
Dynamic Defensive Shotgun I (3-5 hours) Ideal shotgun: 12-gauge pump or semi-auto with 5+ round capacity. Covers fitting, patterning, shooting position, aiming, ammo selection. 50 rounds birdshot, 25 buckshot, 10 slugs required.
Dynamic Defensive Shotgun II Advanced (4-6 hours) Low-light situations, cover/concealment, speed reloading, multiple targets. Requires weapons light. 100 birdshot, 50 buckshot, 20 slugs.
Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading (4 hours, Sunday 2:30-6:30pm) Fundamentals for beginners—safety, consistency, accuracy. No prior experience needed.
Dillon Progressive Machine Basics Full setup and operation. You leave with 50 rounds YOU loaded under instructor guidance. Prerequisite: Basic Metallic Reloading.
Intermediate/Advanced Metallic Reloading Precision rifle reloading techniques. You bring your rifle and 10-20 fired shells. Specialized tools required (Hornady gauges, comparators, Redding tools, Sinclair uniformers). Prerequisite: Basic class.

Over 22 years in the industry. Family-owned operation combining retail sales with hands-on training. The progression system—Basic to Advanced to Specialty courses—lets shooters build methodically rather than jumping in over their head. Instructors are trained professionals, not just salespeople. They emphasize data-driven precision (ballistic software, weather stations, data books) in long-range courses. And reloading instruction gives you the practical skills to lower cost-per-round for serious practice.
