Golden State Shooting Center sits on 5393 Waltz Road in Rio Oso, serving the greater Sacramento and Yuba-Sutter communities as a family-owned clay target shooting facility. The range features:

Unlike corporate-run ranges, this is family-owned. That translates to personal attention—from ground cleanliness to staff friendliness. The facility is built from the ground up with voice-activated clay releases and thoughtfully designed courses. This is the practice facility for 13 local high school trap teams, plus their own CYSSA and SCTP youth teams (Team Coon Creek). They run dedicated youth programs for ages 9-18, making it a competitive hub in Northern California.

• •For Beginners: The "First Shots" introductory course gets new shooters started with safety fundamentals and basic technique. All shooters and guests must bring their own eye and ear protection; the facility does not offer rentals. You'll need a valid government-issued photo ID.

• •For Competitors: Certified instructors provide personalized coaching from beginner to advanced competitive levels, focusing on lead, swing, accuracy, strategy, and the mental game.

• •Golden State Challenge Youth League runs 9 weeks on Wednesday nights at 5:00 PM, with five competitive classes (Varsity, JV, IA, IE, Rookie). Cost is $25 per night for 50 targets. Winners receive cash-filled money clips.

• •ATA Registered Shoots (January 31 – February 1, 2026): 100-target programs in Singles, Handicap, and Doubles at $45 entry per event. $45 to 1st place in each class, plus a $50 HOA (High Over All) prize.

• •Cool Guns Hot Chili (February 7, 2026): NSCA-registered event with 100 targets, breakfast at 8:00 AM, and hot chili lunch 12:00-1:00 PM. Entry $93 (includes NSCA fees, $10 back to class, lunch). Side events available.

They also host corporate team-building events, charity fundraisers, and seasonal leagues.

Club memberships offer significant savings on targets, access to member-only events, and exclusive perks. RV camping with water and electrical hookups is available on-site for tournament participants.

Ammo sales available on-site. Breakfast and lunch service during tournaments.

All participants must bring their own firearm and ammunition (ammunition must meet safety standards and be appropriate for the discipline). Every shooter needs valid photo ID. Range Safety Officers are on duty at all times. The facility emphasizes safety in every program—it's not negotiable.
