Bull Basin Guides and Outfitters, owned and operated by Dean and Susan Billington, runs fully guided hunting trips across multiple private ranches in central Colorado. The operation is licensed (#1037) and permitted by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife, U.S. Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management.
Bull Basin controls hunting rights on several private ranches:
- •Piney Valley Ranch - Nearly 50 square miles north of Vail in GMUs 35 and 36. This property sits in the region that has historically produced more Boone and Crockett mule deer than anywhere else on Earth. Bulls average over 300 B&C (largest recorded 367), bucks average 185 with several in the 190-200+ range.
- •Sunnyside Ranch - Elk and deer hunting
- •Williams Fork Ranch - Elk and deer hunting
- •Pinto Valley Ranch - Elk and deer hunting
Each property includes on-site lodge accommodations with modern amenities and full meal service.
Bull Basin offers hunts from early September through late January:

The operation focuses on harvesting only mature animals to maintain genetics and quality. Minimum buck standards are set at 180 B&C on Piney Valley to preserve the exceptional bloodlines in that region.
