Dobson Performance Shooting School

Dobson Performance Shooting School, founded in 1998, operates out of the Jacksonville, Florida area with instruction from David T. Dobson and Adeline R. Dobson. David holds a rare combination of credentials: he's an NSCA Certified Instructor Level III, NSSA Certified Instructor Level III, and a Paragon Master Instructor—making him the only person in the country to hold all three certifications simultaneously. Adeline is also an NSCA Certified Instructor.

DPSS provides instruction in three clay sports:

They teach using their proprietary 5-Step System designed to build championship mindset and self-confidence through fundamentals and mental game training. Unlike instructors who specialize in one discipline, David believes cross-training in all three clay sports reinforces fundamentals and competitive performance.

All courses include gun safety orientation, diagnosis of shooting issues, systems for shooters with physical challenges, and gun fitting assistance. DPSS provides shotguns, shells, targets, and a safe environment.

He competes AA/AAA in American Skeet and American Trap, and holds sponsorships with Caesar Guerini, Seminole Gunworks, E.S.P., Morgan Optical, Wild Hare, Royal Sporting, and Pro Ears.

David earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of North Florida and an MBA in 1984 while building a career in Information Systems. In 1990, he founded Dobson & Associates consulting firm and began teaching select clients. After discovering English Sporting Clays in 1997, he made shooting instruction his calling.

His education spans the USA and Europe, speaking French and German. He brings training expertise from his consulting work—he's worked as a motivational speaker, management trainer, and business consultant—into his clay shooting instruction and corporate programs.

In 2009, David founded and currently coaches the Jacksonville University Sporting, Skeet & Trap Team (a varsity program since 2012). The team has produced 42-time SCTP & ACUI Event and Divisional National Champions. He also co-founded and coaches the University of North Florida Skeet, Trap & Sporting Clays Team in 2010.

David and Adeline have served on multiple non-profit boards in Jacksonville. They developed and chaired the annual Family Foundations Sporting Clays Classic (held May 19 each year since 2004 in honor of David's father). Revenue from this tournament supports North Florida families in crisis through Family Foundations (formerly Family Counseling Services), a United Way Agency.
