Full description and what we offer
Pensacola Rifle & Pistol Club traces its roots back to the 1920s-30s and earned its NRA charter in 1945. Over 75 years later, they've grown from a small operation into Escambia County's main hub for organized shooting sports. The club moved to its permanent home in 1979 and has been building on that foundation ever since.
A 100% NRA Club dedicated to preserving constitutional rights and advancing competitive marksmanship through organized events.
This isn't a "come for ammo and leave" operation. Pensacola Rifle & Pistol Club runs structured competitions year-round, and membership isn't required to participate.
2nd and 4th Saturdays at 10 a.m.
Traps costs $5 per round (25 birds). Their electric launcher with voice activation throws targets in random directions—you load, say "pull!" and react to a flying target. New shooters welcome. Experienced shooters will coach fundamentals. All you need is a 12 or 20 gauge shotgun (pump, auto, side-by-side, over-under, single shot all work), a couple boxes of target load shells, and eye/hearing protection.
1st Saturday of most months, 9 a.m. on the 200-yard range
This is a "reduced match" format—300 and 600 yard stages are simulated on 200-yard targets. Perfect if you've done an Appleseed event and want the logical next step. The match takes about 2.5 hours and covers:
Match fee: $10 ($15 first match includes NRA League fee). Service rifles (M1 Garand, M1A) and AR-15s with iron sights or up to 4.5X optics allowed. Scores are sent to NRA for classification—similar-skill shooters compete together.
Every Thursday, 8:30 a.m. (weather permitting)
Free to shoot. One-handed pistol only, fired at 25 and 50 yards on fixed targets (50 yards) and an electronically timed turning target system (25 yards). The 900 match is 90 rounds testing slow fire, National Match Course, timed fire, and rapid fire. Runs about 1 hour 15 minutes. .22 rimfire or centerfire .32 and larger. You bring your own targets (available at the range for cheap).
2nd Saturday at 9 a.m., 4th Thursday at Noon
Reactive steel targets instead of paper. Electronic scoring. Pistols or cowboy rifles.
Friday mornings, 8:30-9:30 a.m. depending on daylight savings
ARA (American Rimfire Association) format using .22 Long Rifle. Club members welcome to join.
| Range | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Bobby Kahn Memorial Rifle Range | Primary rifle facility |
| 100/200 Yard Rifle Range | High Power, reduced matches |
| Dr. Nathan Arenson Pistol Range | 45 firing points, precision pistol |
| Shotgun Five Station Trap Range | Trap with electric voice-launch machine |
| Rimfire 50 Yard Range | .22 benchrest matches |
| Harry Stover Silhouette Range | Steel target silhouettes |
| General Purpose Plinking Range | Open shooting |
Membership requires NRA membership (100% NRA Club). However, you do not need club membership to shoot any of the organized matches. Just show up, pay the match fee, and compete. Match fees are kept intentionally low—no additional non-member surcharges.
New shooters are explicitly welcomed. Experienced participants coach fundamentals and technique at most events. Coaching is encouraged in their format.

Pensacola Rifle & Pistol Club is a 501(c)(7) tax-exempt nonprofit organized for pleasure, recreation, and commingling of its members. The club prohibits members from conducting personal business on the premises (including commercial classes), but occasional private sales between members and guests are permitted.
If you want to organize a private squad for trap or another event, contact the match directors. The club will work with you on scheduling. Most events have dedicated directors managing logistics—Michael Bamford (Trap), Jim Knerr (High Power), Grady Hartsfield and Jack Loughridge (Precision Pistol).
