Georgia Mountain Shooting Association

Founded in 1975 by local sportsmen and hunters, Georgia Mountain Shooting Association established itself to provide safe competitive and recreational shooting facilities. They've stayed true to that mission: GMSA operates as a private, member-only range on 36+ acres in Stephens County, about 5 miles south of Toccoa.

The property includes multiple specialized ranges:

• •50-300 yard rifle range: 15 covered positions with concrete benches and military-style targets at 300 yards
• •50 yard action range: 8 covered shooting pits (currently expanding with positions #7 and #8 under construction)
• •Recreational clay range: For shotgun work
• •1,200 sq ft training facility: Meeting space and classroom
• •Permanent restrooms: Recently added at the 50-yard range

GMSA hosts sanctioned matches across multiple disciplines:

• •IBS Benchrest competitions
• •IDPA tactical pistol
• •SASS Cowboy Action Shooting
• •Tactical 2-Gun matches
• •Shotgun events

The club also periodically opens to the public for sight-in days, police training, armed guard instruction, and National Guard qualification.

GMSA is private and member-only except for club-sanctioned public events. Membership renewals open January and February only. Members have access to the full facility and must meet range work hour requirements. Escorted guests can attend with members.

GMSA maintains standing with major shooting organizations:

"GMSA was founded to establish facilities for safe and responsible recreational and competitive shooting, and to promote the sport by providing firearms safety training."

The club provides firearms safety education for youth groups, hunters, and the public. They maintain extensive resources including gun safety guides, reloading references, and an online library.
