Effingham County Sportsman's Club

Founded in 1953, Effingham County Sportsman's Club operates on 180 acres east of Lake Sara, about two miles west of Effingham, Illinois. It is a private, not-for-profit, members-only club with more than 600 individual and family members, run entirely by volunteers and guided by a Board of Directors elected annually by the general membership.

The club's ranges support rifle, pistol, trap, skeet, archery, and black powder shooting, along with organized highpower rifle matches, black powder cartridge rifle silhouette, cowboy action shooting, indoor air rifle, and 4-H youth shooting. Steel targets have been added in bunkers at 300 and 500 yards on the rifle range. Members can use the ranges during daylight hours, with night shooting permitted on the shotgun ranges.

While membership is required for regular range use, the club is a private organization that welcomes non-members to attend its organized events.
