Civic Duty Gunsmithing is a family-friendly shop run by Jerry Slauter, an AGI master-level gunsmith with nearly a lifetime invested in metalworking and precision. Recently retired from 26 years teaching Industrial Technology, Slauter brings serious credentials to firearms repair, restoration, and customization.
The shop focuses on what matters: preserving the art of detail-oriented craftsmanship. Whether you're bringing in a turn-of-the-century relic or a latest-generation precision rifle, the work gets done right.
Optic Services - Boresighting to true zero ($65) - Scope mounting with ring lapping ($70–$110) - RMR/BO-MAR cuts ($225–$400) - Night sight installation ($50–$100) - Drill and tap ($35/hole)
Rifle Work - Headspace checks ($50) - Chambering (from $200) - Barrel cut and crown ($125) - Muzzle threading ($100–$125) - Glass bedding (from $100) - Trigger work, dovetail cuts, accuracy packages - Full AR-15, AR-10, and AR-9 support
Pistol & Revolver Services - Slide fitting and trigger work - Hammer/sear stoning - Stainless polishing (from $100) - Glock manual safety install ($89) - Hand-fitted parts swaps
Additional Work - Shotgun repair, restoration, and tuning (new or old) - Metal refinishing: parkerizing, traditional rust bluing, powder coating, bead blast - Machining services: fixturing, milling, thread chasing - Firearm transfers: $25 each (up to 4), then $20 each additional
