Waverly Archery Club

Waverly Archery Club operates on beautiful property bordered by Babcock Woods to the south and the Cedar River to the north. Located at 1801 18th Ave. SE in Waverly, Iowa, the club maintains two separate archery setups: a permanent 3D range with 25 targets across 2 courses, and a 14-target NFAA-sanctioned field range.

• •3D Archery Courses: Three forest loops with life-sized 3D animal targets. Scoring follows standard 3D format—12 points for center vitals ring, 10 for the next ring, 8 for outer vitals, and 5 anywhere else on the animal.

• •Field & Hunter Targets: NFAA-certified targets with standard scoring. Field targets use black centers (5 points), white and black rings (4 and 3 points). Hunter targets flip the design with white centers.

The club hosts four major 3D shoots annually, all open to the public:

Concessions available at all events. The May open house is specifically designed for non-members to tour the facility and see how the club operates.

• •Single Membership: $50/year (individuals 18+)

• •Family Membership: $75/year (married couples, partners, dependents 18 and under living at the same address)

Members get unlimited range access with gate/clubhouse codes. Guest policy allows members to bring visitors twice—first visit free, second visit $10. The clubhouse has an honor-system snack and drink stand ($1 per item).

After the September shoot, the club prepares courses for winter. The 3D animals come off the White and Blue ranges, but the Red Range keeps targets up using burlap animal targets on butts. The practice range stays open year-round, weather dependent. Courses reset in spring.

Waverly Archery Club is completely volunteer-run. Members range from beginners to advanced archers. The club emphasizes a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Eagle Scout projects have helped maintain and improve the facility over the years.

• •No broadheads on the range at any time (membership revocation if violated)

• •Pets permitted if leashed
• •Camping in designated areas (members anytime, non-members by approval)
• •Alcoholic beverages only in camping areas after shooting hours
• •Members must keep shooting lanes clear and stay within 40 yards in practice area
