Location details and information

Michael Murphy & Sons is a firearms dealer and sporting clay range in Augusta, Kansas, founded in 1974 by Michael Murphy, who began shooting competitively and selling firearms in 1964 before obtaining his Federal Firearms License and opening a shop in a converted limestone barn. The business has been run since 2004 by his son, Marc Murphy.

In 1988, the business added the first sporting clay range in the state of Kansas, originally built with 10 hand traps and upgraded to automatic Kromsen traps in 1990. The range hosted the first Governor's Turkey Hunt Sporting Clay Shoot, the 2014 and 2016 Kansas State Sporting Clays Championships, and a 2014 F.I.T.A.S.C. and 5-Stand Championship. The facility offers rifle, shotgun, trap, and skeet shooting, custom gun fitting, firearm rentals, and shooting lessons, plus corporate and group outings.

The store carries an inventory of more than 2,500 firearms from manufacturers including Benelli, Beretta, Browning, Colt, Franchi, Ithaca, Krieghoff, Lefever, Parker, Rigby, Sako, Smith & Wesson, Tikka, and Winchester, and was the first Beretta Premium Dealer in the United States.
