Full description and what we offer
Green River Gunslingers runs S.A.S.S. (Single Action Shooting Society) matches for shooters interested in cowboy-style competition. Based at Red River Fish & Game in Adairville, they organize monthly matches plus occasional 5th Saturday events.
Shooters arrive early for setup and socialization (typically 8am-9:45am), followed by a safety meeting at 9:45am, with shooting starting at 10am. Competitors face multiple stages designed around classic Old West scenarios and gunfighting situations.
To shoot, you'll need to join Red River Fish & Game Club for $50 per year. Currently, there's no match fee to compete.
Matches feature multiple divisions including: - B Western - B Western Ladies - Cattle Baron - Classic Cowboy - Elder Statesman - Frontier Cartridge - Senior divisions
Competitors use period-appropriate firearms—typically single-action revolvers, lever-action rifles, and shotguns. The club tracks overall winners and "clean shooters" (no misses) for each event.
Green River Gunslingers members regularly compete at state and regional championships. Several club shooters have earned S.A.S.S. State Championship buckles, and the group maintains an active presence at Tennessee State Championships.
The club emphasizes both competitive spirit and community—recent posts show the group organizing "Possie Up" prayers for members dealing with health challenges.
