Full description and what we offer
The Cast Bullet Association started with a simple mix-up. In the mid-1970s, Howard Thomas of Indianapolis and Ken Mollohan of Freeport, Pennsylvania both sent cast bullet articles to Handloader Magazine. The magazine mixed up the manuscripts and sent them to the wrong authors. During the conversation that followed, they realized there was no real community for beginning cast bullet shooters—so they formed one.
The CBA is an international organization of shooters who enjoy casting and shooting lead alloy bullets in rifles and handguns for competition, hunting, experimenting, and casual shooting.
This is a working shooter's organization. Not a retail store. Not a manufacturer. A community.
Competition & Matches - Benchrest competitions (precision rifle shooting) - Military format matches - Postal matches (mail-in scoring) - National tournaments - Regional championships - Track records and leaderboards
Community Resources - Active member forum for technical questions - Quarterly publication: Fouling Shot magazine - Video library and technical downloads - National records database (benchrest and military categories) - Match results archive
Member Benefits - Learn from members with decades of casting experience - Access to competition schedules and sign-up forms - Technical forums sorted by experience level - Gallery of member builds and results
Members range from casual shooters experimenting with cast bullets to competitive benchresters chasing national records. They cast for rifles, handguns, hunting loads, competition ammo, or just to save money on range time.
The organization publishes match rules for three different competition formats (benchrest, military, postal) and maintains national records across both categories.
