Full description and what we offer
Top Shot Maryland is a small, NRA and USCCA certified training outfit based in Lutherville-Timonium, Maryland, serving Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, and Delaware. They focus on two parallel paths: turning experienced shooters into certified NRA instructors, and teaching extreme long-range precision rifle skills.
Their flagship offering is the 1,000-Yard Precision Rifle Long Distance Shooting Course—a three-day intensive designed to teach shooters from beginner to advanced how to confidently and accurately engage targets at 1,000 yards and beyond.
The curriculum is comprehensive. You'll cover rifle setup and maintenance, ballistics fundamentals, scope technology (first vs. second focal plane, parallax, elevation, windage), MOA versus Milliradians, zeroing procedures, chronographing your rifle, and ballistic calculators (they use Hornady 4DOF). You'll learn to build dope charts, use rangefinders (Sig Sauer KILO8K-ABS), read weather data (Kestrel 5700 Elite), and understand environmental factors like altitude, density altitude, spin drift, and Coriolis effect.
Range work includes shooting from 100 to 1,000 yards from multiple positions, learning wind reading at distance, cold bore shot discipline, spotting technique, and group analysis.
Pricing depends on equipment: - Bring your own rifle, suppressor, and ammo: $1,595 - Bring rifle and ammo, rent suppressor: $1,670 - Full rental (rifle, suppressor, ammo): $2,170
If you're bringing your own rifle, it must be zeroed to 1 MOA at 100 yards and capable of 1,000-yard performance. Maximum caliber is .300 Norma Mag. All rifles require suppressors (5/8″ x 24 threads). You'll need 160 rounds of match-grade ammo and a bipod.
If you rent, they provide rifles and optics "the best in the industry," plus rear bags, eye/ear protection, and match-grade ammunition.
