Full description and what we offer

Active Shooter Boston teaches people how to actually survive—not just theoretically understand—active killer incidents. Most rampage and spree killings end within 5 minutes, before law enforcement arrives. That means civilians are the first responders to their own survival.

They don't treat all active shooter incidents the same. School shootings have different shooter profiles and weapon patterns than workplace violence or public space attacks. Active Shooter Boston tailors training to each organization's specific threat environment.

Training covers: - Evacuation tactics (primary vs. secondary exits, environmental assessment) - Barricading and access denial - Decision-making under extreme stress and duress - Fear and adrenaline management - Physical and non-physical response options - Scenario-based and role-play training - Unarmed counter-tactics (when all other options fail)

Gershon Ben Keren designed and runs the program. He holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Krav Maga (the Israeli Military's system of hand-to-hand combat) and works as a security professional. His third book, Krav Maga Extreme Survival, investigates over 140 active shooter/killer incidents to identify common components and effective counter-tactics.

Their training differs fundamentally from typical "lockdown and hide under your desk" protocols. In the Columbine school shooting, students in the library could have evacuated through another door during a 4-minute window, but lockdown procedures told them to stay put and hide. When the shooters finally entered, they were sitting ducks.

Israeli security forces became so effective at stopping active shooters using these methods that Hamas switched from firearms attacks to suicide bombings. These proven tactics are now documented and demonstrated for the first time outside Israel.

  • Schools and colleges
  • Corporate and business organizations
  • Religious institutions and churches
  • Concerned citizens
  • Public venues (restaurants, shopping malls)

Active Shooter Boston also offers consultancy on preventing workplace violence before it happens. They train managers and supervisors in: - Conducting disciplinary hearings without triggering violent reactions - De-escalation techniques - Candidate and exit interviews - Workplace conflict resolution

They recognize that how a termination or disciplinary action is handled can be the difference between a calm transition and a former employee returning with violent intent.

  • Based in: Krav Maga Yashir, 165 New Boston Street (Unit E), Woburn, MA 01801
  • Training provided in: Medford, Waltham, Burlington, and throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, and other New England states.

Their training materials feature real locations where such incidents occur. A Massachusetts high school was used for the school shooting scenarios, with drama club members playing targets. After the training, the local police department shot an active shooter training video using the same location and tactics.

The straightforward simplicity of the Israeli approach means what students learn is easy to remember and apply under pressure.
