Top Gun Weapons Training operates two facilities in Belchertown, Massachusetts with instructors who've actually used firearms in the field. Owner Edward "Ed" Oey spent 43 years in law enforcement—starting at Hampden County Sheriff's Office in 1977, commanding their Special Response Team for 8 years, and retiring as an International Association Law Enforcement Master Firearms Instructor in 2020. Vice President Eric Stratton brings 18+ years from corrections and law enforcement, training at the Smith & Wesson Academy. Director Johnny Oey followed his father into the field after competing nationally in IDPA, then served 10 years in USAF Special Operations.
That's not typical gym instructor credentials. These are people who've trained other cops, worked SWAT, handled real threats.

$25 deposit required per course, per person (non-refundable but transferable once to next available date). Full payment due before training starts.
- •Real incident response. One instructor was decorated in 2012-13 for actions during an active/barricaded shooter situation—officer down rescue and pinned civilian evacuation. That's the kind of training decision-making you don't get from YouTube videos.
- •Tactical Combat Casualty Care certified. Multiple instructors hold TCCC, PHTLS, and Stop the Bleed certifications. If someone gets hurt, they know what to do beyond "call 911."
- •Armorer certifications across major platforms. Instructors are certified armorers for Colt, Smith & Wesson, Beretta, Sig Sauer, and Winchester—meaning they understand the mechanical and legal sides of the guns they're teaching with.
- •Keeps current with MA law changes. Massachusetts gun laws are strict and evolving. Every instructor maintains certifications through MPTC (Massachusetts Police Training Committee) and stays updated on legal/tactical changes. The LTC course specifically prepares you for the application process and the live-fire exam that Massachusetts law requires.
