Founded in 1907, Northwestern Gun Club is the longest-running gun club in Minnesota. Over 115 years of preserving the shooting sports while bringing in the next generation of competitive and recreational shooters.

NWGC hosts multiple competitive shooting disciplines every month:

  • IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) - Practical shooting matches simulating real-world scenarios. Matches run twice monthly with 4 stages, 75-100 rounds. No membership required to shoot. Registration at 5:00 PM, shooting starts at 6:00 PM.
  • USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) - Level 1 matches open to anyone. Five stages with classifiers. NWGC runs a full league series across 8 matches April through August.
  • High Power Rifle - Full 530-yard rifle range
  • NRL22 & Long Range - Dedicated long-distance shooting events
  • Shotgun (Trap) - Two trap houses with covered warming area
  • Bullseye - Traditional marksmanship competition
  • PCSL & Gas Gun - Additional rifle disciplines
  • Youth Club - Programs for younger shooters

Public shooting events are open to anyone—no NWGC membership required. Many matches don't require USPSA or IDPA membership either. Pre-register through Practiscore when available.

Club meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 7 PM at the Cast Iron Restaurant near Pike Lake. Full club membership is invitation-only (requires sponsorship from an existing member). Member applications are on a wait list.
