Dark Horse Tactical operates training courses for shooters in the Henderson and Las Vegas area who want to go beyond getting a CCW license. Their courses range from foundational defensive pistol to advanced carbine work—all taught with an emphasis on real-world lethal force scenarios.

Defensive Pistol Courses

Basic Defensive Pistol (6 hours) covers the fundamentals for anyone regularly carrying concealed. Single-day format at Pro Gun Club near Boulder City. Topics include: - Customized weapon familiarization - Holster selection, carry position, clothing considerations - Accuracy and rapid target acquisition - Iron sights vs. red dot sights (RDS-only course also available) - Defensive mindset—detect, avoid, neutralize - Legal considerations and landmark cases - Post-engagement law enforcement interaction

Intermediate Defensive Pistol (IDP) is a 2-day course that assumes you've completed the basic course. It expands into shooting on the move, tactical and combat reloads, weapon indexing (high/low/SUL/hybrid), multi-threat scenarios, and cover utilization.

Carbine Training

Intermediate Carbine – Tactical AR (IC-TA) is designed for shooters who already finished a basic AR course. The 6-hour single-day course builds on AR/M4 fundamentals and covers stress inoculation through repetition, accuracy on the move, stoppages and malfunctions, multi-target scenarios, and utilizing real-world barriers and structures.

Firearm Field Stripping and Cleaning ($125, includes Breakthrough Cleaning Tech kit)

Instructor Josh Nilson teaches this beginner-to-intermediate class how to completely disassemble, clean, and reassemble AR-15 rifles, Glocks, Sig Sauer, and most 1911/2011 pistols. The 2-3 hour course covers: - Firearm safety rules - Proper cleaning equipment and techniques - Actual hands-on cleaning of your firearm - Reassembly and function check - Proper maintenance and storage

Stop the Bleed Course

Instructor Kenny O'Rourke—a full-time emergency and trauma nurse who worked for Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department—teaches pressure application, wound packing, tourniquet use, and chest seals. Uses simulated blood and realistic wound trainers. Course fee includes a free C.A.T. tourniquet.

Youth version (ages 8-16) runs separately; parent or guardian must attend but doesn't need to purchase a seat.

Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program

Monthly classes using age-appropriate instruction books. Kids get a Wing Team Certificate, reward sticker, and parent guide to take home. Kids 7+ can shoot .22 caliber rifles on the range with an instructor afterward (range waivers required).

Classes offered at two times: - 10:30am – Noon - 5:00–6:30pm (includes optional range time)

Course fees are 100% non-refundable. Students can waive attendance by contacting DHT 7 days prior to receive credit toward a future course date. No credit given if you fail to provide notice.
