Full description and what we offer
Howell Gun Works stocks a working inventory across handguns, rifles, shotguns, and used firearms. Their handgun selection runs the major manufacturers—Glock, SIG Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, H&K, Springfield Armory, CZ, Canik, Beretta, Walther, and others—across common calibers (.380, 9mm, .45 ACP, .357 Mag, 10mm, .38 Special, .22 LR, .44 Mag). Rifles include tactical platforms, hunting rifles, precision builds, and specialty options like the Barrett MRAD ELR (.416 Barrett). Shotguns span tactical, hunting, and specialty configurations. They also stock lower receivers and rifle actions for builders.
Small-quantity ammo is priced competitively: 9mm at $19.99/50rds, .45 ACP at $29.99/50rds, .380 ACP at $29.99/50rds, .357 Mag at $39.99/50rds, and rifle rounds like .223 Rem at $12.99/20rds. Buy in bulk and the per-round cost drops significantly—9mm drops to $299.99 per 1,000 rounds, .223 Rem to $499.99/1,000 rounds.
The on-site gunsmith handles everything from basic maintenance to full custom builds. A $35 diagnostic fee (credited toward repairs if you proceed) gets your gun evaluated in person.
They also handle historical research and appraisals for collectible firearms.
Transfer fees are $70 for long guns, $71 for handguns (includes NICS and applicable NJ sales tax). The shop processes transfers under strict NJ compliance—magazines exceeding 10-round capacity are destroyed. Storage fees apply: $5/day after 30 days, firearms left 90+ days are considered abandoned and sold to offset fees. Multi-handgun purchase customers need to notify the shop after submitting state applications.
The shop offers CCW certification, firearm safety courses, beginner classes, and advanced instruction. Call ahead to discuss what you need.

Howell Gun Works operates with a straightforward approach: strict adherence to federal, state, and local firearms law; customer-driven service with integrity; and transparent pricing. They're explicit about what they will and won't do—they don't transfer to C&R holders (NJ law), don't intervene in disputes between sellers and buyers, and reserve the right to reject transfers. The gunsmith requires advance notice to ensure availability.
