Monmouth County Rifle & Pistol Club is a private nonprofit in Farmingdale that's been the real deal for shooters who want competition and community. It's not open to the public—membership maxes at 600 and there's typically a 2-year wait to join—but that exclusivity comes with dedicated facilities and a packed event calendar.
The club runs 5 outdoor ranges: - Two rifle ranges (100 and 50 yards) - Three pistol pits (7, 15, and 25 yards) - A trap range that overlays the pistol and rifle ranges - 40-yard archery range for compound, traditional, and crossbow
All ranges have firing line tables and shooting frames. Parking is limited but functional.
MCRPC coordinates serious competitive shoots throughout the year:
| Discipline | Events |
|---|---|
| Handgun | Bowling Pin, Head to Head, Knockdown Steel, Police Action, Steel Challenge, Summer Pistol League |
| Shotgun | Trap, Three Stand, Five Stand |
| Rifle | High Power, Air Gun Plinking, Precision Rimfire |
| Multi-Gun | 3-Gun, Black Powder, Western Action Cowboy |
Each event has a dedicated coordinator managing logistics and scoring.
Membership is limited to 600 and there is a waiting list. Candidates should expect at least 2 years before an opening becomes available.
Members get access to ranges for recreational and competitive shooting. Guests can shoot with members when events aren't scheduled. Government agencies (Police, FBI, Military) can use the ranges with advance approval.
General and Trustee meetings happen 8pm on the 4th Tuesday of select months (Jan, Feb, Mar, Jun, Aug, Oct) at the Elks Lodge in Long Branch. The club is affiliated with the NRA, NJRPC, Civilian Marksmanship Program, and Single Action Shooting Society.
Range Orientation and Personal Steel Shooting Certification are required for members—courses are available through the club.
