Blue Mountain Fish & Game Association

The Indian Lake / Blue Mountain Fish & Game Association is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to promoting fishing, hunting, and shooting sportsmanship while conserving Adirondack natural resources. Since its founding, the association has focused on youth engagement and community-based activities that matter.

Members enjoy daily access to a private range on Chain Lakes Road (just past the Indian Lake recycling center). The facility includes:

• •Rifle & Pistol Range: 25-200 yards with portable target stands and frames. Open 8:30 AM to ½ hour before sunset daily for members.
• •Trap Range: Voice-activated trap machine built to ATA standards. Open Wednesday and Saturday, 9 AM-noon for members and public. Handheld/portable trap devices available anytime during range hours.
• •Free targets, ear and eye protection provided to members

This is where the association stands out. Annual events include:

• •Kid's Fishing Derby (July 4th weekend): 200+ children participate. Free fishing poles, bait, lunch, and prizes. Casting contest included.
• •Kid's .22 Shoot (July): Supervised by Range Manager with safety instruction and close supervision
• •Ice Fishing Contest (February): $40 registration, cash and equipment prizes
• •Turkey Shoot (Late September): Open to public, .22 rimfire paper target competitions
• •Member's Barbecue (Labor Day weekend): Pot luck with provided steaks, horseshoes, bocchi

Adult memberships cost $50/year (January-December). Members meet the last Wednesday of each month at 7 PM at Byron Park (except November-December). The organization is entirely volunteer-operated—membership includes commitment to help with events, range maintenance, or community support.
