The club purchased its 58-acre property in 1941 for $1 from Paul Duke of Wellsville—a donation that established the foundation for what exists today.

Founded in 1915 from a collection of local hunt clubs and conservation-minded shooters, Wellsville Rod & Gun Club has operated continuously for over a century. The club purchased its 58-acre property in 1941 for $1 from Paul Duke of Wellsville—a donation that established the foundation for what exists today. The current clubhouse was built in 1949 using cedar logs that members assembled during their free time.
Currently 300+ members strong, including 87 lifetime members. Club meetings are open to the public on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM.
Rifle Range - Concrete shooting benches at 50, 100, 150, and 200-yard distances - Rock-solid covered benches suitable for precision shooters and casual plinkers - Well-maintained grounds with target frames available - Open 9:00 AM to dusk for members only
Clay Target Shooting - Trap, skeet, and 5-Stand fields (8 machines with 5 shooting positions) - NRA-funded handicap-accessible trap field with wide concrete lanes for wheelchair shooters and standard back-to-27-yard-line shooting - Wednesday night shoots: 6:00 PM start, April through the Wednesday before deer season - Open to the public (not members only)
5-Stand Course - Offers 40 different target presentations - $10 per round (50 targets, up to 60 shells required) - Designed to challenge even experienced shooters

The club operates a 109-year-old facility available for private rentals from May through October (facility is winterized November–April). The property includes:

Membership Required For: - Rifle range access (9:00 AM to dusk) - Pistol range access - Year-round shooting privileges
Open To The Public: - Wednesday night clay target shoots (6:00 PM start) - April through the Wednesday before deer season - Weather permitting
Key Rules: - Current membership card required for range use - Minors must be 12+ and accompanied by a member 18+ - No alcohol or drugs on property - Eye and ear protection recommended - Rifles must point down-range; targets must be placed at ground level - Spent shells and used targets must be removed - No targets depicting real people - High School Trap Team uses range Tuesdays/Thursdays 3:00–5:00 PM (late March through May)

In 2013, the NRA awarded Wellsville Rod & Gun Club a Range Improvement Grant specifically for handicap access to the trap field. The club maintains:
