Full description and what we offer
John Garner founded Garner's LLC in 2004 after decades in the hunting and fishing industry. He started in taxidermy and meat processing before transitioning to retail—but his passion for the outdoors never changed. He hunts and fishes whenever possible, and that real-world experience shapes everything the store does.
"Time spent in the woods or with family is more important than just the hunt to him," according to the store's philosophy.
Garner's stocks a rotating selection of used guns across all categories and price points:
Shotguns & rifles - Winchester side-by-side 12ga ($2,800), Winchester 30-06 collector ($2,500), Browning A5 12ga ($1,550), Marlin .35 Rem ($950), Savage 300 WSM ($700)
Handguns - Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum (multiple in stock, $1,600–$750), Colt Python .357 ($1,400), Springfield Armory Saint 5.56 ($950), Glock 19 9mm ($550), Sig Sauer .380 ($525), Kimber 9mm ($600)
Budget-friendly options - Heritage MFG .22LR ($100), Hi-Point .380 and .45 ($150), Taurus .38 Spl ($300), Ruger .380 ($200–$225)
Inventory changes regularly—call 864-859-3500 to ask about specific calibers or models.
Garner's runs a full-service archery operation staffed by actual bow hunters, not retail clerks. They carry:
Services include: - Laser tuning ($65, FREE on bows purchased in-store) - String making and replacement - Arrow fletching, cutting, and customization - Draw length adjustments - Poundage increases/decreases - Full bow setup and sighting before you leave
"Speed is not the key to bow hunting—SILENCE IS!" All technicians are trained through archery schools and actively hunt, so they know what actually works in the field.
Garner's teaches South Carolina CCW classes monthly on Saturdays at 7:30 AM, completing the entire course in one day (roughly 7:30 AM to noon). Class fee: $80.
What's included: - Private firing range (two shooters at a time, one-on-one instruction) - Suppressed .22 LR target pistol provided - All ammunition and targets included - Gun provided—no need to bring your own
Instructors are SLED-certified and NRA-certified. After you pass, you make an appointment at IDENTIGO for digital fingerprinting to speed up permit processing.
Garner's accepts FFL-to-FFL transfers with strict requirements to protect customers and the business:
Transfer fees: - Single firearm: $45 - 2+ firearms: $35 each
Policy (non-negotiable): - Sending dealer MUST include a hard copy of their FFL with the shipment - Copies faxed/emailed beforehand are acceptable - No FFL numbers printed from websites—the dealer provides the hard copy - Failure to include hard copy = $10 additional fee - Repeat violations = permanent ban + $20 charge
Garner's maintains a curated list of reputable dealers it works with regularly and a blacklist of dealers it refuses to do business with.
