Sylvan Archers holds the distinction of being the oldest archery club in Oregon, established nearly a century ago. Located at 15930 SW Bell Road in Sherwood—between Wilsonville and Portland, about 25 minutes from downtown—the club maintains one of the most complete archery facilities in the Pacific Northwest.

Guests can visit the range twice before needing their own membership. Tours available by appointment.
Community Archery Program (CAP): Public instruction offered spring through fall, typically Saturday mornings. Sessions cost $5 for non-members using club equipment, or free if you bring your own (subject to instructor approval). Limited to two sessions per person; youth must be accompanied by a parent.
JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery): Competitive tournament program from beginner to advanced. Coaching available through certified level 3 coaches including Mike Ellerbe, Brandon Tenner, and Marianne Itkin. Both program and coaching fees apply.
Private Instruction: Independent certified coaches operate year-round at Sylvan and local indoor ranges. Specialties include longbow, traditional recurve, barebow, compound, and Olympic-style archery.
Sylvan maintains a strict safety-first ethos with detailed rules covering broadhead use (broadhead pit only), field course procedures, 3-D course navigation, and equipment restrictions. Crossbows are not permitted. The club is alcohol-free on all shooting ranges and prohibits all firearms, BB guns, pellet guns, paintball guns, and fireworks on the property.
Common sense and rule compliance are emphasized heavily. Violations can result in membership suspension or termination.
The club hosts archery competitions throughout the year. Check the online calendar at sylvanarchers.org for specific event dates. Club meetings occur monthly (first Thursday at 7 pm, currently hosted via Zoom).
From I-5: Exit 283 (Wilsonville). West on Wilsonville Road 1.9 miles to SW Bell Road, then right 2.6 miles. Range on left.
From Sherwood: Take Sherwood Blvd (becomes Ladd Hill Road). South 2.5 miles past SW Sunset Blvd, left on SW Bell Road, east 0.5 mile to range on right.

Weekly maintenance reminder: Lawn care crew mows Wednesday mornings 9am-11am. Members should plan around this time. Club policy requests "pack it in, pack it out"—keep the range clean and report broken arrows or trash.
